Hope in the Life of Butterflies – Handmade Faience and Brass Sculpture

Hope in the Life of Butterflies is a poetic decorative piece representing a butterfly, a symbol of transformation and hope. The upper and lower wings are made of faience, glazed and hand-painted. Each detail reflects careful and expressive craftsmanship.

The butterfly’s body, legs, and antennas are made of natural or oxidized brass. These elements are manually cast using traditional sand molds. As a result, each sculpture is unique.

All pieces are entirely handmade. Therefore, small variations in color, texture, or finish may occur. However, these variations enhance the authenticity and artistic value of the piece.

The sculpture is presented in carefully designed packaging. The box is made of micro-corrugated cardboard and wrapped with a paper band. It includes an exclusive illustration and a summary of the short story “Hope in the Life of Butterflies”. Moreover, the story speaks about a taxidermist goose and conveys a clear message. One must have no weight in their hands to be able to look at the sky. In other words, it is a metaphor for hope. The content is bilingual, in Portuguese and English.

With 16.5 cm in width, 23 cm in depth, and 10 cm in height, this piece fits easily into different spaces. Its weight of approximately 48 g makes it light and versatile. Thus, it can be placed on shelves, sideboards, or accent tables.
